A Release, or any file passed to nyl render, contains Components, HelmCharts, RemoteManifests, and plain Kubernetes resources; rendering turns each into plain Kubernetes manifests.

  • Kubernetes rendering k8s.nyl/v1
    • Release: Defines a Kubernetes workload manifest boundary and its permitted namespace scope.
    • Cluster: Describes a concrete Kubernetes destination and its deterministic rendering capabilities.
    • HelmChart: Expands a local or remote Helm chart into Kubernetes manifests.
    • RemoteManifest: Fetches HTTPS YAML or JSON documents and expands them into Kubernetes manifests.
  • Kubernetes components components.k8s.nyl/v1
    • Component: Expands a chart identified by a dynamic resource kind into Kubernetes manifests.

Native Kubernetes resources and Kyverno policies use their upstream API versions.
